Walking To School In Brickell

One of the demographic changes taking place in Brickell is that we are seeing more families living here than ever before.  It’s trend that is happening in a lot of cities and urban areas around the country and Miami is no different. The Spa at Icon Brickell and The Viceroy Miami Hotel

The Spa at Icon Brickell is fabulous and its been written about umpteen times.  But the reason that I’m writing about it is because of its great location and the fact that I can walk there from my home in Brickell.  Now that Brickell is really coming together as a full fledged urban neighborhood, I have decided to really put the idea of city living to the test as often as possible.  That means walking.  And in this November weather, walking is just what I’ve been doing.

An easy 15 minute walk down Brickell Avenue from my own buliding put me directly in front of Icon Brickell.  The Viceroy Miami Hotel is located in Tower Three and the Spa is located in Tower One.  All three Icon Towers are connected in a whimsical way that includes indoor and outdoor walkways.  Along the way I passed a streetscape that is becoming more and more resident friendly.  Two new parks and office buildings with consumer focused retail and restaurants.  My bank, TD Bank, just opened up at 1003 Brickell Avenue.  The new raw bar TIKL has opened to rave reviews at 1450 Brickell Avenue and China Grill will be opening soon at 801 Brickell Avenue after 17 years on South Beach.

My time at the Spa, which is run by the Viceroy Hotel and the detail obsessed Spa Director Lori Lynch, was the escape from reality that it was intended to be.  I began by relaxing in the sun at the longest pool in Miami.  Then I moved inside and spent some time moving between the three different temperature Jacuzzis under an enormous yellow Murano glass chandelier.  A steam in the over-the-top marble lined men’s locker room with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking Brickell Key and the bay was followed by 90 minutes under the expert care and kneading of therapist Juan Fidel.  I almost couldn’t walk home, but of course I did, realizing how fortunate I was to live in Brickell.

Quick Contract on Unit 4413 at ICON Brickell

On the market for only 18 days before going under contract, this condo at ICON Brickell Tower 1 is the perfect example of what nice finishes and furnishings can do for the sale price and shortening the time on the market.

The Imperial At Brickell Represents Great Value

Located at 1627 Brickell Avenue, in the South Brickell neighborhood, the Imperial at Brickell has always seemed to be a secret and is a favorite of mine.   I’ve lived in The Imperial, I have many friends who still live in The Imperial and I’ve sold many many of the condos at The Imperial, some more than once.

The Imperial is one of the smaller buildings in the area with only 162 condo units. That is part of what makes it wonderful along with the fact that the residents are a nice mix between full and part time and a small percentage of renters.  Designed by the renowned firm Arquitectonica and built in the 1983, The Imperial is long and narrow and appears to resemble a cruise ship from afar.  The design of the building provides for hallways on the North side and some of the largest terraces of any condo buildings in Brickell on the South side.
