A slot is a position within a series, sequence, or group. It can also refer to a specific time or date, as in the example of an airplane flight slot that can only take place at certain times of day. A slot can also be used to describe a specific location, such as an office or apartment building.
The odds of winning on an online slot machine are based on the frequency of certain symbols appearing in a spin, as well as the number of paylines and how much a player bets. The random number generator (RNG) in a slot game takes all of these factors into account and produces a new combination of symbols with each spin.

In a RiverWare Policy Language model, a slot is an area that can hold values for a particular run index and is displayed on the System Control Table (SCT). The SCT can display both standard time series slots and integer indexed slots.
When a slot is selected, the individual values in that row are reflected in the SCT and can be edited in the Slot dialog. When a slot is selected, there is special ornamentation in the column heading indicating its type, s shown in Figure 6.24. If a Series Slot with Periodic Input is selected, there is an icon that indicates this and clicking it opens the slot in its own Slot Dialog where you can view and edit its periodic input values.
In addition, the value of a slot can be set in the SCT’s configuration window as described in Configure Slot Dialog Functionality. In this case, the slots that are displayed will be those defined in the SCT, and they will appear as standard time series in the Slot dialog. This type of slot is useful for iterative MRM mode, as it allows the user to directly edit and store a time-series value for each iteration without having to open and close a Slot dialog. This is not available for Integer Indexed Slots.
